Information for Candidates

Â鶹Éç school board positions are four-year terms and represent the entire school district. All Â鶹Éç residents who meet the eligibility requirements specified in may run for any place in the Board of Trustee election.

The following three positions will be on the November 5, 2024 ballot:

  • Place 3 – Currently held by Christine Mauer
  • Place 4 – Currently held by Anna Smith
  • Place 5 – Currently held by Sade Fashokun

Filing Period

First Day to File:

Saturday, July 20, 2024, is the first day candidates may file an application for a place on the Nov. 5, 2024, ballot for the Board of Trustees Election however, since Â鶹Éç offices are not open on weekends, applications can be submitted starting Monday, July 22, 2024 at 9:00 A.M.

Deadline to File:

Monday, Aug. 19, 2024 at 5:00 P.M., is the deadline to file an application for a place on the Nov. 5, 2024 ballot for the Board of Trustees Election.

Deadline to File a Declaration of Write-in Candidacy: Friday, August 23, 2024, is the last day to file a . A declaration of write-in candidacy must satisfy the same requirements as an application for a place on the ballot.

Methods of Filing

  • In-person: Applications may be submitted in person between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the LISD Administration Building located at 204 W. South St., on days the Admin Building is open. Note: Hours of operation vary during the summer months. Please call 512-570-0000 to verify summer hours.

    Note: The Texas Secretary of State’s Office requires the filing authority to be in possession of the application before the deadline. Mailed applications postmarked before the deadline but not received by our office cannot be filed.
  • Fax: Applications can be faxed to 512-570-0048. We encourage candidates to email the elections coordinator at [email protected] to confirm the faxed application was received.

Forms to File


  • Per the , all candidates must file Form CTA even if they do not intend to raise or spend any money for their campaign. Form CTA is required to be filed before a candidate files an application for a place on the ballot, raises or spends any money for their campaign, or announces their candidacy. More information about these guidelines and the form can be found on the .

  • All candidates are required to file semiannual reports using Form C/OH even if they have no campaign activity or were unsuccessful in the election. Annual filing due dates and schedules are available on the . Forms should be filed with the Â鶹Éç Elections Coordinator, Cindy Anderson. To end your filing obligations, you must cease campaign activity and file a Final Report using and attach Form C/OH-FR (Designation of Final Report).   • Although it is not required, many candidates also file a .
  • Request for Confidentiality for Candidates
    Pursuant to Section 552.1175 of the Texas Government Code, eligible individuals may request confidentiality from having certain information released in response to Public Information Requests.  . Eligible individuals must request this confidentiality in writing and provide documentation of their individual status with their written request.  If approved, the individual’s home address, home telephone number, emergency contact information, date of birth, social security number, and whether the individual has family members must be restricted from public access.  Eligible candidates who qualify for this confidentiality should file their request with the filing authority with whom they have submitted their candidate application. Eligible candidates are encouraged to use the but are not required to do so.
